Interphase: Preparation for cell division. This is the longest phase as the cell obtains nutrients, grows, reads its DNA, and conducts other “normal” cell functions.
Prophase: chromatin condenses into double rod-shaped structures called chromosomes
Metaphase: chromosomes align in the middle of the cell before being separated into each of the two daughter cells
Ananphase: chromosomes are split and the sister chromatids move to opposite poles of the cell.
Telophase: The final stage of mitosis or meiosis during which the chromosomes of daughter cells are grouped in new nuclei.
Cytokinesis: the cytoplasm of a single eukaryotic cell is divided to form two daughter cells
